Since the Part I was published, I kept coming up with the additional superstitions in my everyday life. Sooo... back by the popular demand: Russian Superstitions Part “Dva”. Enjoy!
#2 If you have a lot of birth marks, you will be happy in life – a very encouraging one, considering that birthmarks are linked to skin cancer...
#3 When a sneeze comes while someone is talking - they are saying the truth. So if I'm telling you a story and you sneeze, or I sneeze, or someone else around us sneezes, it would automatically mean I'm telling the truth – no lie detector needed.
#4 If a girl looks like her father - she'll be happy in life, same for a boy who looks like his mother.
#5 Make a wish and eat a 5-petal lilac flower. Just like a four-leaf clover is considered a good luck in Ireland, a five-petal lilac flower is dreams come true in Russia.
#6 If you see a spider in the house - you will receive a letter (but before you call me a liar because no one in this century sends letters anymore, think of that magical time of the month when the bills come in... yeah-yeah, you got - it's because you saw a spider!)
#7 If you and your close one are walking on a street and go around a street light or a tree from different sides, you two will have a fight or a disagreement that will separate you. To avoid this, you should stick together and keep to one side. But if you’ve already done so, one of you should come back and go around.
#8 If you are hiccupping – someone is thinking of you right this moment. And to stop the hiccups you just need to guess who that person is.
And finally the worst of them all... drum roll, please! and as usual - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! I warned you!
#9 Don't walk around with one shoe on - one of your parents will die... no details on which one. Ditto for socks.
